Client Feature: Nika + Ryan’s Chicago Wedding: Part One | February 7, 2013
Last summer, I had the pleasure of designing and letterpress printing Nika and Ryan’s wedding invitation suite. This project was meaningful not only because they are a sweet couple and good friends of mine, but also because this was the last full invitation suite that I printed on my old Vandercook SP-15 press. Today in “Part One” I will share with you their invitation suite photos. Tomorrow I will share “Part Two” – their drop dead gorgeous wedding photos!
Here we go – ready to print.
The couple chose a beautiful green and pewter gray for their invitation suite colors. These colors matched the flowers and decor, as well as Nika’s bridesmaid dresses. Here is the hand mixed green ink on the press.
The invitations were printed on double thick 220# Crane Lettra in Pearl White. I used two large pieces of paper (for a total of 4 press runs; 2 ink colors each run) to fit all of the stationery pieces and then trimmed them when printing was complete. (Those tiny lines are crop marks for trimming.)
The couple did not want feminine designs on the wedding invitation itself, but we compromised and added a little floral design to the complementary pieces.
The full suite was gorgeous; I love how the floral details do not overwhelm the suite, but are beautiful accents!
The envelope liner was one of my favorite parts. Of course, the satin ribbon pairs beautifully.
I created these monogram squares to close the pocket fold enclosures. The initials and heart design were part of Nika and Ryan’s save the date announcement. The squares were all hand assembled to the outside of the pocket folds with my trusty Tape Gun, which I showed you yesterday!
Don’t forget the thank you notes! Simple and sweet.
I also designed and digitally printed wedding ceremony programs, menus and place cards for their wedding. Those satin ribbons are just beautiful, aren’t they?
You are going to want to check back in with me tomorrow for photos of this lovely couple’s Chicago wedding. Below is a sneak peek. Trust me – you will want to see the beautiful bride Nika in her stunning Vera Wang wedding gown!
